network printing problems

Hi folks,

I just bought a laptop and Im able to get on the internet with it, however, I want to be able to print but I cant for some reason.

Wireless network and my desktop is sharing the printer but I still cant print. I type in the name of the printer but when i do (with my laptop) it says unknown name. Is there something Im missing?
I mean is there anything else I should type when it asks for the printer name?

Have you installed the drivers for this printer on your laptop?

how many times have you ran the network wizard and was there an old printer already installed on either machine?

can you see the printer in my network places on the lappy?

When I ran printer setup wizard it wouldnt list anything until I turned off my firewall on my desktop. So that seemed to be the problem. Duhhh, me...lol
Anyways, now that my firewall isnt enabled, this is now going to make my computer more vulnerable huh? Any way around this?
