Is it normal that windows is sending out informations (not sure about the destination..) all the time when there is no progame running? i realisd this after i installd kazza on my pc. it happend with dial up, now it still happens with cable connection. ive already got rid off kazza, and formated my HD, reinstalld XP.

do you have any firewall software running? also do you have any antivirus?

Windows regularly sends info to my ISP verifying I exist (at least that's what my cable company told me).

I tracked the IP address back to Cox somewhere in Florida.

if youll get a packet sniffer - there are some free to download -
youll see alot of open ports, alot of traffic going to m$ for various reasons, including such harmless reasons as time sync.
xp loves to call home to m$. kazaa (but not kazaa lite)
is full of spyware creating its own bitstream traffic for
reasons not 2 ur benefit. grokster is just as bad or worse.
why not use kazaa lite instead of kazaa?
