seems doubtful...I see on buy.com it says

OS Required - Apple MacOS 9.1 or later, Apple MacOS X 10.1.3, Apple MacOS X 10.1.5, Apple MacOS X 10.1.4, Apple MacOS X 10.1.2, Apple MacOS X 10.2.4 or later

I was told that it should work, all you gotta do is reformat the drive

maybe the os required is for the soft it comes with ?

Thanks

Well, I noticed it says it comes "pre formatted"...I guess the only way to know would be to find a MAC friend with one and try it out. Or just search google for instances of someone doing the workaround, lol.

Of course it is firewire also, being mac-ish.

dont know anyone with a mac and a back up drive
well I'll try a google search

firewire is my target, I would of just went with the 120 maxtor if it had firewire, but maxtor had to be lame and make only the 200+ drives firewire/usb combo

maybe I should just go with a WD 120 firewire ?

Thanks
Dan

Do you want it for the "one touch" software aspect of it? If not you could just get an external enclosire and put your own hard drive in it.

yep thats one of the reasons, I need it mostly for backup (and some extra space since the laptop only has 20gb), Id actually like a mirror but Im affraid that wont be easy

Thanks

should I just go with USB 2.0 ?
I dont really want to (eats too many resources and my poor ol laptop already doesnt have many ) but the way things are going pretty much everything will be USB 2.0 soon and getting a USB 2.0 card might be a good idea for the future
+ its cheaper

Thanks
Dan

Would the resources be a big deal...cuz the drive wouldnt be hooked up all the time would it? And/or the usb2 pcmcia card wouldnt be in all the time.

Do you have built in firewire?

Either way you can get firewire ext enclosures also.

Hi

well this thing is already quite slow and I really dont want to slow it down more

yep I plan to keep the drive on all the time (even more time than the laptop ) I wonder about that, do these things have a sleep or auto off or something ? I'll definetly forget/be too lazy to turn it off every day

nope no built in firewire or usb2

yes enclosure yes, but no easy backup and in that case Id just go WD

Thanks
Dan
