brand new hard drive not bein found

I jus bought a new Maxtor ata/133 hdd.(40gb ) My mobo is a sis 530/5595. I ran auto detect but it is not bein found by the bios

do you have the master/slave set up right? or set it to single if its by itself?

yea i did that rite. If i didnt it woud sho an error but its not readin at all. Coud a hdd not be compatible wit a mobo

If that an oldddddd motherboard..maybe it cant see a hd bigger than 32mb

I would try it as master by itself on the first IDE channel...and/or if that doesnt work try it by itself set to cable select.

well guys i tried the maxblast and it foun my hdd. It didnt pass the bios test. So now i hav 2 upgrade my bios and c wa happen. At least i kno the drive is good
