Anti-glare filters

I recently sold off a 21" monitor because I couldn't stand the glare and the curvature of the monitor. While I still owned it, I wanted to buy an anti-glare filter.

I went to shopping.yahoo.com and looked at the cheap 21 inch glare filters.

I ended up buying something from internetishop. It claimed to be a fl-hb-1921 model filter (which meant nothing), but it was cheap so I tried it out.

It was awful. I got shipped this piece of junk that produced more glare than my monitor.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with glare filters. Is anyone using a fellows, 3m, or kensington anti-glare filter? Also, how much did you get it for.

Stay away from this shop:

When my Sony E400 was scratched I took the monitor apart and pulled off the anti-glare/static film so I would have a clean screen again. But doing so caused the monitor to be extremely bright. I went to Comp. USA and picked up a 3M Glare Filter. For me it worked "OK" . I sold the monitor and Filter to my brother and he seems to love it.

Best advice is get name brand glare filters, get high quality flat screen monitors, and try turning the brightness down. And you can also eliminate other light sources in the room.

I've used Fellows brand on older mons. They work good-even have the anti static cable which is + on older models. Glare is often caused by bad lighting in room. Pc rooms need special attention. Do NOT use Flourescent bulbs in pc room. It will cause bad glare and also slight filcker in mon due to it being a gas bulb useing the 60hz power cycles. Filament bulbs glow and the 60hz cycle goes unseen. Important cause your pc mon also cycles. That the HZ your refresh is at. 85hz seems best to me. 100hz is o.k. 60hz mon refresh rate and a Flourescent bulb -go get your asprin ready regradless of any filter you buy.

Ooops. I almost forgot. Welcome to TechIMO.
