Kids Power questions

Hi,
could I use the power supply cable from my old laptop as a backup for my newer laptop?
They are both built by the same company(Arm Computers). The "old" one is only 1 year or so older than my current one.
Also, my laptop has the "Li-Ion" Battery in it. I would like to keep it plugged in on my desk.
Would it overcharge the battery?
The manual says that it's ok to keep it plugged in on one page and it's not ok on another page.
Thanks for any suggestions.

it shouldn't be a problem to use a different power supply cable, i personally wouldn't use it, just cuz i'm picky that way.

i leave my laptop plugged in 20 hours of the day, never had a problem.

Thanks jinsta,
I feel better about leaving it plugged in now.
The reason I asked is 'cause my previous laptop had a defective internal power supply and I wasn't quite sure if this might have been a problem.
To my knowldge a Lithium type battery should not overcharge.
Thanks again, Ann

if anybody cares

the cable is okay, as long as the adaptor is original. if it isnt, you should check the numbers, if theyre same - everything is okay...

about li-ion battery... if it has an advanced power management or something like that stated in manual you can keep it plugged for ages, if it hasnt, it should have rest once a week (for at least several huors), cause as it is mobile, it is to be unplugged for some time while transporting, so it should rest "automatically"

and as far as i know li-ion batteryes have a pretty short lifetime - after 1.5 - 2 years it lasts for half time of the new battery, so dont panic if after two years youll be able to work for one hour offline, instead of two
