Booting from DVD Rom and IDE 2 Secondary Hard drive from a Ultra ATA card...

Hello everybody...can somebody please show me how to boot from my DVD Rom drive or my IDE 2 Secondary Hard drive from the Ultra ATA/133 PIC Card....I can't get any of my hard drives on that card to boot. I went to the BIOS and change the boot order..it still doesn't work...So I read the manual for my motherboard...it said to set the "Primary Master UMA and ect..as AUTO" but everything was default as "Auto" there's no option for me to disable the Primary Master IDE so that it would boot into the Primary Master UMA...the options for both Primary Master and Primary Master UMA and ect.. are :

Auto
Mode 1
Mode 2
Mode 3
Mode 4....

what are those mode means ?? How can I set my BIOS so that it will boot into the hard drives that's on my Ultra ATA 133 PCI Card???

Thanks...

Check in your boot order list for scsi. That has bios look for boot files on adapter cards. My raid card boots as scsi on P-3 bd.

B71655, I am sorry that I don't understand what u mean...can you explain it clearer ?? Ohh did I mentioned that I also have a SCSI card ?? I am running:

ATI 8500 128 DDR on AGP
LSI SCSI 160 MB/S on PCI 1
Sound Card on PCI 2
Ultra ATA/133 on PCI 3

I changed the boot order to SCSI and I was able to boot into my SCSI hard drive. But when I changed my boot order to HDD 0 or HDD 1 or any other hard drives on the UltraATA card it WILL NOT BOOT. Even my DVD ROM drive.....

I only have experience with Adaptec SCSI cntrllrs here.
Go into your LSI card & set it's BIOS to be non-bootable , THEN you should be able to boot to the (Promise , I bet) UATA card....
Also moving the IDE card closer to PCI slot #1 than the SCSI card should help , since generally the PCI bus scans for higher priority from slot #1 on down to # 5 or #6.....
SWAPPING the controllers' slots *should* cure your problem....
