Gaming Lite-on 48125W CDRW problem...

I have a Lite-on 48X CDRW.

It will not burn CDs. Every time I try to burn one, it will get to about 4% (Nero, Easy CD, Clone CD), (which I think is the "lead-in" time, since no burning has actually occurred yet), and then freeze. I can hear the drive trying to spin up to speed, but it spools down after a second or two.

WTF?

Have you tried different media at different speeds?

Have you tried a firmware upgrade?

It's not necessary to upgrade the firmware of your opto-drive unless you meet problem.

So you've tried different media?

If this is a new drive, I would seriously consider an RMA.

Try reinstalling Nero and the drivers.

What motherboard? Is it by chance an nVidia nForce/nForce2 chipset board and you recently installed an updated UDP?

I had to patch or update older versions of both easy cd, and
NTI cd maker after a windows update.

Win 2000Pro easy cd
Win 98se NTI

My HP prorgam stopped working at the same time, but never fixed it

Are your burning applications regestered versions?..or did they come bundled with a CDRW?..
