Kids megapixel?

hello all, now my question is if i buy a 4 megapixel digital camera is a 6 megapixel any better? i mean, can it get much better? is there a limit to where you say, "that's enough pixel's and that'll do the job?".

thanx,

<shad>

4 is PLENTY for the average home user. Is 6 better, yes, is it neccesary, I dont think so at all.
Even 3 Mega pixels is enough unless you intend to be trying to blow up small sections of a photo.

More than the number of pixels, the quality of the lense and the processing chip matter the most. You can buy a 3.1Mp camera for $100 and find out that the chip only produces 1.3 effective megapixels. If you're in the market for a camera, do some real research and shop around. ALWAYS buy a camera from a good brand.

If you transfer a picture with 4 megapixels to a computer that doesn't have a big resolution does it distrot it? How does it work?

a computer that doesnt have a big resolution?
It just makes the picture bigger, so ud have to like scroll to see all of it, it doesnt compress all the pixels into the same area.

I agree with Kc2iLq, do alot of research b4 u guy. Canon tends to have really good digital cameras but expect to pay more

In Photoshop, the image size of a 5 megapixed photograph is 35.5 x 26.6 inches.

When you adjust your photos downward to print say a 6 x 4 the become smaller in pixel size - about 365K. So you have the potential to be larger where you choose.

1 megapixel = 1 million pixels
If you simply multiply the width in pixels by the length in pixels you get the number of total pixels, measerued in megapixels

VHockey86 answered my question. i was asking that question because my brother wants to buy a 6mp camera when he has a sony 3.2mp camera. he thinks that a 6 mp camera would be alot better than what he has and the thing is is that he doesn't take any special pics with that camera so i told him that it wouldn't be worth it. thanx for the help people on confirming what i suspected.
