At Home MOHAA and Linksys Router

I have read several threads to get my Linksys router to work with MOH. I've set port range forwarding between 2200 and 2220 with both protocols checked, but that didn't work. So, I set the DMZ for the host computer and that doesn't seem to work. I'm running DHCP enabled;UPnP services enabled.

I plan to build a server gaming machine, but right now, I run the game on the same machine as I'm playing. I know this will be severely lagged, but I need to get my feet wet before I swim. I'm running an XP 2700 overclocked to 2.35GHZ with a GF4 4600 and 1Gig sys mem. My biggest bottleneck is my ISP bandwidth. the cable company has too many customers and antique equipment. Back to the point....

My brother-in-law has been trying to direct connect test by typing in the host IP in MOH Spearhead, but he keeps timing out. I'm guessing the firewall is still blocking access, but I don't know what to do. I have several questions:

I need to clarify: the person connecting, types in the host computer IP and not the ISP or the router IP? Does the person connecting need to add the Port forwarding address in the IP?

Is there a router setting I'm getting wrong or have missed?

How do I get the game visible to everyone in MOH land?

Is there anything in Win XP I need to change?

I've read many other threads and still haven't figured it out, so assume I'm a moron....

first update the router to the latest firmware

make sure winxp built in firewall

when the person wants to connect to your server, you need to give them the ip your isp gives you. not your internal ip address

www.whatismyip.com can help you with that

here is another thread on it

I have the latest firmware update for the router.

I checked winxp firewall to make sure it wasn't active.. OK on that.

I have been trying to use the internal IP and not the ISP; that may very well be the problem. I'll have to get someone to try it, while I have the game booted.

I read the other thread peviously and think I have the port ranges OK.

I'll post again if it still doesn't work.

Thanks for your help..

yes you do not want to give them a 192.168.1.* number that is your internal ip address from the router.
