Kids Multi window Flash problem

Hi

Confused student attempting something a little out of his reach in Flash MX!

I want to create a Flash projector file that has two 'windows'. One to hold 'content' and the other to be a floating 'menu/navigation device' window that can be dragged around at the user's will and is used to control and navigate through the 'content' window.
This project will not be used on the web OR in a browser such as I.E. and must stand alone as a swf.
I think the solution is something to do with the 'Localconnect' scripting but I have no idea how to implement this, or if it is even the correct script to use.
I am familiar with the use of 'telltarget' and the 'loadmovie' commands, and have a basic understanding of 'levels.

This is an appeal to bored Flash-masters to help me on this (probably) quite simple problem.

The Goodmunky.

Hey goodmunky, welcome to TechIMO.

I'm an intermediate Flash MX user but not Director so I don't know if this will work for you. Have you tried any tutes yet? Here's a tutorial of a drag menu at Were-Here.com.

I 'assume' you'd be able to tweak this by creating another MC for your second 'content' window and assigning the proper path to it via ActionScript.

I hope this helps. If not, let us know what you've already tried [tutes or whatever] and/or maybe someone with specific Director knowledge will jump in.

Hi socialgal, cheers for your speedy reply.

Have taken a look at the tutorial link you provided. This is kind of what i'm after - think i'll use this option if all else fails.

The floating menu does what I need (ie changes the scene of the 'content' area) but is still limited by the boundaries of the 'content' window. Is there a way of dragging it outside (or even behind) the window??

Looked into localconnect commands but all the tutorials i've found seem to deal with sending dynamic txt to and from movie clips, not actually controlling them.

Any clues?!!
