When I open up Internet Explorer it says file://C:/WINDOWS/trniethststbrst.htm?http://about:blank#<a href="http://w...bout:blank</a> in the address bar, and I cleared all my cookies/history and it still says that.
And for some reason it can't renew my IP address. But im still able to get online with my laptop and my router is hooked up to the computer that doenst recognize the IP address

quick google search and I found this....you might have gotten some pop up/under that tried to change your start page, or clicked on a link that tried doing something it shouldn't have ( a problem I've had searching google images, where it tries to pop up another search engine instead of what I'm trying to look for )

I had the same problem one day. My start page was "mysteriously" changed and even if I cleared the cache I would get to the same undesired page. I ran Spybot and Adaware and set the desired start page again. Problem solved.
