Homeworld 2
just wondering what people think of this game.
i saw a review on tech tv, and i was like, woah, thats freaking cool!
lol, so i got the demo, and sure enough - i want it now
it played great on my computer, even with my drivers it deemed "obsolete" - cant restart now, maybe in *checks dl* 211 hours
i never played homeworld 1, but from the story so far (there are two missions in the demo, as well as a "how to" mission), it seems like they got to their "homeworld" and now aliens want to kill them, or something like that.. right?

Quote from http://homeworld2.sierra.com/ )
In Homeworld, the inhabitants of a forsaken planet discovered an ancient tablet that revealed their true origins and launched them on a perilous voyage to their ancestral home, the far-distant world of Hiigara. After building a massive Mothership and taking aboard thousands of colonists they set forth with high hopes, little realizing the dangers that awaited in their journey across the galaxy. After apocalyptic battles and grievous loss of life, they finally reached Hiigara, the homeworld of their forebears, and reclaimed their birthright.
THE SAGA CONTINUES...
Homeworld 2 continues the epic struggle of the Hiigarans and their leader Karan S'jet. Many thought their hardships would end when they returned to Hiigara, yet fate has not been so kind to the Exiles. Now the Hiigarans face a new and bitter enemy, a renegade clan from the eastern fringes of the galaxy, who wield the power of the ancients. Homeworld 2 chronicles the valiant journey of the Mothership and its crew into the oldest regions of the galaxy to confront their new foe and discover the truth behind their exile.
Amazons Blurb($45.00 is a bit much for a game, but...) : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...439568-9939064
BTW, Which drivers? Can you write/order a cd from them for the updated drives??

The original was a brilliant game.
Story line, gameplay, music, all top of the line.
The second version (Homeworld:Cataclysm) was not nearly as good. It should have been sold as an expansion pack, but they made it a stand-alone game. It failed horribly.
Homeworld2 is actually 3rd HW title.
From what I played of it, it seems to be better than Cataclysm, but still not up to the original. However, I didn't get far in the game before I got tired of having my tail whooped. It's very difficult, much faster paced than the previous games.
I think part of what makes it so much more difficult is that you never have the chance to rebuild/regroup. In the first 2 games, when you completed a mission, you could hang around the area and mine and rebuild before you jumped out. In this game, when you complete the mission objectives, you are force jumped out, never having time to build a fleet before the next mission.

it rocks. The first few levels are VERY hard, esp compared to Homeworld or Cataclysm, but once you get by them it evens out. The only downfall is its over much too fast. ;(
On the good side the mods are starting to come out for it now. New maps, diff ships and missions. etc.
