Kids Windows ME OEM disk

I have a windows ME oem disk from an hp
pavilion computer that bought the farm and I would like to install it on my old toshiba laptop , I would like to know if there is a way to trick the disk in to thinking
it is on a pavilion machine! The way I look at it , I purchased that os and I should have the right to move it to a computer that works!

I dont think theres any way to do it afaik... Most of those just restore an image of the OS to the computer.

Well if it restores the pavillion image to the toshiba..boot into safe mode on the first boot after the restore and run 'regedit"..then delete the "hkey local machine/enum" folder..then reboot again...it will redetect your hardware and after you find correct drivers etc you may be ok.

or else just try to "open" the cd or use windows explorer and see if it has a "win98" folder..that will be the windows files...go in there and run "setup"
