Photoshop Buttons

How do I make a button such as this one in Photoshop, or is there a tool out there for making button images that can then be used in Photoshop? (This button is from the theme I'm using for my forum).

I just tried playing around with different layer settings, such dropping shadows and beveling, but I couldn't get anything as nice as the above button.

Buttons are easy enough to make using Layer Styles. What type of look are you trying to achive?

I was trying to make a button just like the one posted above in Photoshop, but it didn't look good at all.

What steps did you use to make those buttons?

So you want to make a button that looks exactly like your original button. Why when you already have it? Wouldn't you want to make buttons that you don't have...new buttons? [shrug]

Anyways, these are super simple. Most of them are nothing but the Layer Styles effects.

For example, the black button is simply a layer of solid black:

Then I used the Rounded Rectangle Tool to create a Layer Mask in the shape of the button:

After that, it's all Layer Styles that take us to this:

If you use the same Layer Styles and duplicate these settings for each one you should end up with the exact same effects.

Here's the main Layer Styles dialog box:

Here's the Drop Shadow dialog box:

The Outter Glow dialog box:

The Bevel & Emboss dialog box:

And the Stroke dialog box:

As a final step I added a 2nd layer that is nothing but a very light, very translucent, light gray smudge that kinda smears down the right portion of the button face and then along the lower portion of the face. This was just to add some false detail to the button face (although it'll barely be noticable at the button's small size).

Thanks OuT! I asked you to show me the steps so I could follow them, not to make the exact button, since as you mentioned, I have it already

Well, is that alright? I mean, it was easier for me to just take screenshots of what I did than it would have been to try and explain all that I did. I figured you're smart enough to follow along with the screenshots for this one button and then if you need to just make some minor changes to produce your own buttons. Right?

Plus, don't forget you can always use the "copy layer style" to apply to other shapes!
