need help fixing mobo drivers!

I saw the news that the new VIA drivers were up, so i decided to give them a try...
I own an epox 8kha+ board and decided, hey new drivers dont sound bad, so i dl them and run em... computer restarts... or so it seems...
Now the computer is stuck in a restart loop, and an error comes up when i finally get into windows that there is a hardware error... so i do not know what to do!!!!! i tried to reinstall windows (w/out reformat cuz i have stuff on there i need) and booting from the original driver cd(but that cd is messed up, doesnt read from it) does anyone have any methods on fixing this w/out reformatting? thank you and have a good day!

Windows Xp saves the previous driver for such problems. Try this:

Hit the Windows key+pause to bring up the system properties
Click hardware tab, then device manager
Click the (+) sign to open display adapters
Right click on the chipset info, highlight and click properties
click the driver tab
click roll back driver

If that doesn't do it, go back to the general tab, and try troubleshoot. Or possible uninstall the device, and reinstall the drivers from the mobo CD.

do i do this during bootup or do i do it once the regular windows screen appears... what happens is the system seems to freeze except the mouse and then pops the error and then restarts... do i need to do it in that little time?

Sorry, I thought you could get into windows. might try "safe" mode, hit the F8 key between the dos screen and the windows screen.

That should load the minimum set of drivers. You can choose "safe" mode, or highlight "last know good configuration" on the screen that appears when trying to boot into safe mode.

You could also boot into safe mode using F8 during boot up and run system restore. Just restore to the closest point before installing the new drivers.

I've done it a few times already after borking an install

definitely my first choice, lol.

The rollback thing could work also but wouldnt that be several drivers to mess with? (4n1 etc)
