Options not available on IE6.0.2600.000

I cannot access the tools/options on IE6.0 on my XP Pro box and get this message when I tryto: "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." The user that I use has administrative priviliges and I also can log on as administrator, but don't know how to release my other users to change their options. Any help?

Thanks

First thought...

Click Start--Run, type in gpedit.msc, under User Configuration browse to Administrative Templates--Windows Components--Internet Explorer--Browser Menus...look at the right hand side, make sure that "Tools menu-disable internet options..." is disabled or not configured.

Sweet!

Many people don't realize just how powerful the group policy editor can be or how many options it really has...anyway, glad I could help!

I was fighting a recurrent battle with the Blaster.worm and that didn't stop until I bought and subscribed to NAV 9 and then did all the patches.

I hadn't messed with gpedit before, but I certainly have since then -- a lot!

If you connected to a domain that has machine restrictions in effect, it could do it. So could a worm/virus, so could a rogue application. It's impossible to tell.

Ok, here's another. My Outlook Express won't open in a maximized menu. When I click on the quick launch icon properties and tell it to open maximized it says "Unable to change ..access is denied" ?
