launch file on remote computer?

Hey, I'm not sure if this is possible but before I just figured no, I decided I'd ask here.

Situation: On my PC is sort of taxing to both play halo and host a halo server (on the same system), so i decided to setup the server software on my dads computer.

Now I suppose it isnt a big deal, but without using any kind of software like VNC is it possible to launch a file over a network? I was hoping I could start the server program on that computer remotely from my computer. Is there a way to do this through some sort of batch file perhaps or maybe just a shortcut? (obviously If I just browse to the file and open it, it launches on my computer).

I don't think this is the best way to do it, but you could startup telnet server on your dads computer, telnet to it from yours and start the server.
(you would have to keep the telnet session open as I have no idea how to start programs residient (like with terminal server and disconnecting)).

That would perhaps work..
