Need help with a Radeon 9800 np card.
Hi guy's I bought this card from a seller I cannot name and I have a problem with it maybe somebody can help me.
I installed it put in new 3.9 drivers for it yet it shows up as a Radeon 9800 pro with the graphics all corrupt. It will start
out ok but if I go into anything 3d thats when I have problems.
The board is black in color but its on a 9700 PCB board? It has the small old style power out on it . Has anybody heard of the Radeon 9800 using old 9700 boards for the 9800? Do I have a card thats not what it should be?
Any way I have a $250.00 piece of junk if I can't get it to work forget about refunds they don't do them without an outrages restocking fee. Then somebody else will wind up with it. Thanks any ideals or help will be great. Also they claim it is used now since I put it in my computer yet they also claim they tested it before it left why test a new board and also how does it going in their computer not make it used to?
Rant over

Sounds like this shady shop flashed the BIOS to the 9800 Non-Pro into a 9800 Pro. Which is probably why you say it's a Non-Pro and shows up as a Pro, and the graphics corruption because the NP can't handle the Overclock.

If it is a new card, then there is a warranty associated with it. Either the place you bought it from should replace it, repair it free of charge, or else contact the graphics card manufacturer to sort out the warranty..

Yikes !
Sounds like the "other" Sapphire 9800 pro , They (Sapphire) will take care of it .
I'm not saying playing email tag with somebody on the other side of the world is fun , but.....$250 is $250 !! http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...iption=&page=2
RADEON 9800PRO 128M $305
Look familiar??
I'd be on the 'net RIPPIN' on these jokers that shaFteD you..... Robert BTW , You could always D/L & install the OmegaDrives Omega CAT 3.9's & clock the card DOWN to get it to work , since it won't run at "grade 'A' speeds" , it wouldn't be a total loss then.....

Thanks guys that was the problem. I downloded Riva Tuner it was running at 379/338. Way to fast so it looks like somebody did something with it. It works now backed the clock speed down to normal. 325/290. Just hope it didn't fry it running like that.
sfw1960 thats the card. I did complain on the Sapphire board but I don't know if they care anymore lot's of angry consumer's posting with no results.
Maybe since they are selling this things they out to rename them to a Radeon 9800 Semi-Pro.

This is as bad as rebadged cpu's! Dont stand for this-DONT KEEP a card that was carelessly flashed either. It may have weakened a vreg chip etc and you wont know. It couldnt take the higher mhz-so that def. was strained. You payed $300 for a card that WASNT abused prior to your useage. There is NO restocking fee on defective cards. They arent allowed to charge you for that. Only returns over complaints etc.-as in not defective. Persay- you think the card is wrong color-orderd wrong one or its not fast enuff for you. 10% or so restocking fee applicable. check it out. Seriously-they CAN NOT charge a restocking fee for defective products. Especially ones "they" flashed above spec with a diff bios. This is illegal and you can report them and you should. Some other guy might not be so lucky and may end up eating the $. Sapphire should be notified as this is totally against their reseller rules. Sapphrie will come down on that vendor like He!!'s rath. Just like amd does when vendors break multi-lock and rebadge XP's etc. Dont stand fo rthis-if not for yourself, do it for the next guy they pull one on.

Xtreeme Tried to they want budge its a 15% restocking fee. All I can do is leave them a review they deserve. Then they will just change their name and start over like so many others do.
Also if I do return it its got to go though their testing lab which can take up to a week. Then if they thank its broke they will order me a another card which they don't know how long it will take to get from their supplier. If I had not sold my old card on Ebay I could wait it out.
I will never buy another thing from any company without ton's of
reviews and a review grade under 9.2. Thank goodness for a site like reseller ratings if only I had known of this place before I bought well I know of it now at least. Now I can be a wiser shopper.

Do you know the BRAND of card. Fudge the retailer you already know he/she's a jerk. Go over their heads -thats what Id do/have done before. Go to ati or the brand card it is. That warrenty is through THEM not your vendor really. You just request a RMA-thats all they do and you will get a new card. They arent gonna do it. Know why-cause they already know the did somthing illegal. Sending you a pro flashed NP card. Thats gonna get them into big trouble-and they should be busted for it. The manufacturer isnt gonna jerk ya around either like the vendor as ATI want your returning buisness that vendor prolly wont last a year-so dont care.. Just call or email the graphic card manufacturer. Report that the VENDOR flashed your card and sold it as a product it wasnt. If you have reciept this can be proved that you payed for a diff. product. Ati sapphire or whomever made it will penelise them and give you a NEW card which is really what you want-no? The flash was recorded by the Video bios-the date the type everything. So ergo if ATI wants they can pinn it down on the vendor for sure. The vendor will get some heck from the big guys then. You dont mean jack to them and they will fool with ya and make your case seem insignificant to make you go away. BUT ATI calls them up and its "yes sir-Im sorry sir, I dont know what happend sir-yes we'll replace it right aways sir-never happen again." been there-done that. See ati has the right to tell that vendor he is no longer allowed to sell ANY ati products (or whatever brand ya go thtat is) due to the damage he's doing by selling tampered products. AMD does it too.
