Should be no problem if ya ask me, I mean, why would it be called an upgrade if ya can't upgrade from the 2nd most used MS OS?? (not too sure bout 2nd, but ya get my drift.

And by all means, just try it, if it won't work, it'll tell ya before it starts installing, cause it won't do that installing then.

No harm in trying, nothing will be screwed up.

i was thinking the same thing, it has the same file system and basically is the same os (just bloated but anywayz). i might give it a shot, it can't hurt anything.

I don't think that is true, but you will need a copy of win2k to install it if it is an upgrade.

i do have a copy of 2k so that isn't a problem. i wonder why ms would say that on their website about not being able to upgrade from 2k to xp pro? oh yeah, they want to sqeeze out as much money from end-users as possible!

If you can't do a real upgrade ( saving all your data into XP), you can still do a clean install with the upgrade disk. the install program will ask to put the win 2K disk in a drive at the beginning of install, just for a second to verify you have it. If for any reason I'm wrong and that is very possible and it won't accept the win2k disk I know it will accept any windows 98 disc, first or second edition.

Oh ,I think ME will work also
