Systems Dropped Frames

I am fairly confident that dropped frames are my problem. I have tried several different programs ,Ulead, Dell Movie Maker, and Adobe Premier Pro,with no success. The video quality stinks and programs that show dropped frames I see many dropped . I am running a 2.4ghz pent4 with 800mhz bus hyperthreading a 120Gb dedicated 7200rpm drive, 512 ram and running XP. I am trying to capture from a Sony TRV38 digital camcorder thru a firewire connection. Are there any utilities out there that I can test my system with.? Could it be the firewire card? Help!!!!!

Didnt you already post about this??? Check to see if there is a set compression or if your using some crazy file format... try caputuring with little or no compression and compress it after your done... should get better results.
