Samsung SyncMaster 19" CRT Monitor/ Dynaflat Screen
I am looking to purchase this Samsung SyncMaster 19" CRT Monitor with DynaFlat Screen .
Looked good at the store. Samsung a good brand of monitor?
Currently using a Sony Trinitron Multiscan E400 19". I had to take the monitor apart and remove the anti-glare, anti-static film from the CRT tube because my cat scratched it. So now it's very crisp and clear, but also very bright, esp. using it as much as I do.
The brightness and contrast settings are at 20 / 70 and I have to use a 3M BF10XL Glare Screen to avoid damaging my eyes over long periods of usage. Anyway, what do you think of the Samsung monitor? Was looking to pick it up today.

I've never heard anything bad about the SyncMaster monitors. I did a lot of looking around when I bought my new 17"s.

It's an OK monitor, picked up one from Dell for my father last year.
Just a heads up, this is not a true flat screen monitor. Curved tube with a flat glass screen on top.
WB
BTW, I should add that the monitor is well worth the less then $200.00 price tag

I am using that exact model right now.
Extremely sharp, good reviews, great price. I would recommend it to anyone and I would readily buy another if this one were to die.
As woodbutcher said, this isn't really a true flat screen monitor but it does an excellent job of imitating one.

Well, I was looking for a TRUE FLAT screen. Hmmmm.... Will I notice the difference??? Going from a True flat screen to this one? Should I just look for a "TRUE" flat screen. ?

What about THIS one? The dot pitch is .25 on the Mag and .20 on the Samsung though....

Ok.. I guess I will try the Samsung and see how it works out.
Gonna head off to the store now. Hopefully, less strain on these ole' eyes. Wish I knew a way to fix this monitor. Shame. It's in excellent condition, perfect picture, etc. but to darn bright without the Anti-Glare, Anti-Static film removed. |

Well, I have been messing with this monitor for about 2 hours trying to get it to stay at 1280 x 1024 @ 75Hz. It keeps going crazy. Not to impressed with the picture quality either. Doesn't seem very sharp compared to the Sony E400 I was using. The colors aren't sharp ... the black isn't a black and there are noticable vertical lines. Looks like I may be taking it back. |
