Electronic parts

Does anyone know a place to get electronic parts? I'm looking for a 10Kohm potentiometer (rehostat). I found some at a local Radio Shack but they weren't the right type. They had 3 solder pins. I'm looking for the ones that have 5 pins coming out of the back.

Thanks

Five pins, eh?

Normally a pot has three--the center one is the wiper lead, the outer two are fixed, and the resistance between the wiper lead and either outer lead will vary as you turn the shaft--the difference is which direction it varies.

Six leads is reasonable for a dual gang pot (usually audio taper). For example http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bi...50K&type=store

If you need five leads I'm guessing you need one with a SPST switch included. But I'm guessing.

You haven't specified enough info to look up in a catalog and give you a specific part number. http://www.digikey.com/ is sure to have what you need though, or ask around the university for a local source.

Thanks =)

It's for the volume control from a radio. It's also the on and off switch. The five pins are arranged in a semi-circle.
