I dont have an ATI, but i dont think the Radeon 9600 (non pro/pro) can be changed. You can overclock it, but i dont think the extra 4 pipes can be opened cause i dont think it has them. But i would wait and verify that first, i could be wrong.

You also might want to poke around in the Rage3d forums, they have a lot of good information without having to even ask a question.

A popular OC proggie is Rage3D

Take a read of my article here of overclocking the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro. It's a very simple process, the 9600 Pro just begs to be overclocked with its potential

I recommend Rage3dTweak for overclocking ATI products.

That's odd, sweeper2. I have a 2.4C P4 and a R9600Pro at stock speeds and I get 11,000+ with 3DMark2001 SE.

1900mhz AthlonXP=2600(BARTON CORE) AthlonXP2600>Pentium 4 2.4c. BUT 2.4c+DDR500 Ram+OC FSB to 1ghz=3GHZ Pentium 4. Also 3Ghz Pentium4 > or = Athlon XP 3200+.

BTW That system I popped that OCed 9600 Pro in scored 12900in 3DMark 03 wich is a little better then my 9500Pro

quote:"Ran a Connect3d 9600 Pro to 500/700" Juan Sanchez

use Rage 3d...bought a new MSI K7N2 Delta 400 edition 128 bit MOBO
athlon xp overclocked to 2.2 ghz "athlon xp 3200"
512 ddr 333 2700 "generic"
13 gig HD maxter 7200
radeon 9600 pro Atlantis x8 128 "overclocked to 460/360

ran a 12500 3d 2001 se
ran a 3200 3d 2003 "don't know why so low"
ran a 29,000 aquamark...which is also low...
ran a 3920 pc mark 2004, which is pretty good..

so don't know why some benchmarks ok, some not?

Well thats a weird story, You see when I built his system (NF7-S, AthlonXP 3200+, 512MB DDR3200 Connect3D 9600Pro)I thought that it was a little slow(well, compared to my 9500 Pro and 9800 Pro in my machines). Remembering the 9600XT ran a little faster in benchies then my 9500 Pro I OC to what I thought where that cards speed (500/700) after clocking it at that it ran amazingly quick and handsomly beat my 9500 Pro. After some intense benchmarking and stress tests the system felt fantasticly stable. I searched on the web and found out that the Ram on the 9600XT is only 600mhz!! Once I found that out I looked at the card and examined the ram. It looked familiar, I yanked it out and compared it to my 9800 Pro, and they HAVE THE SAME RAM TYPE (same words on the ram and everything). My 9800 Pro's ram runs nice and happy at 730mhz so the 9600Pro should be happy at 700MHZ. I guess Connect3d had some EXTRA ram chips from a 9800 Pro batch and decided to throw them on 9600 Pro (both use BGA). My friend was extremly fortunate, he basically got a card that BETTER then a 9600XT for $150.
