question about passwords in XP

Hello all,
I just had a question about windows xp passwords when using a dial up connection. Is there a way to turn off the filter or security feature that makes your password display 16 characters?

I'm not really concerned with what the password actually is, I just was woundering if there was a way to remove that. I work for an isp and people that I talk to complain about there password being longer than what it is.

I know, Ive ran across the same thing...people freak out thinking it has changed their password.....Ive done a little google search but dont see anything yet about disabling the "feature"

I havent had any luck turning it off... Just tell people that it is a security feature so its harder for people to guess their passwords... Hey... its the truth...

Yea, that's what I tell them, but they keep complaining and they wounder why they have to retype their password everytime they have to log on. It surprizing how much people listen to what you say
