Finance Anyone know a good tutorial on removing P4 Heatsinks and fan?

Hi,

I just bought a Zalman 7000 Cu...I need a really good tutorial to show me how to take the old one off safely. Preferably with lots of pics.

Any suggestions?

Thank You

Yow---just looked at what you purchased---take some before and after temp readings, dont forget to apply whatever "paste" or otherwise you choose correctly...

The retail heatsink is actually quite good---are you having heat related problems?

If it is retail and it has been on for more than a year, they can stick hard. I puller my 1800 right out of the socket without lifting the CPU retention bar still stuck to the hear sink.

I can't believe it still works

You GENTLY use a thin knife or thin screw driver to pry back the catches of the P-4 heat sink frame. Find one that you can slide down INSIDE the frame.
