What OS and where are you getting the list from?

You might try just running Ad-aware or Spybot S&D to see if they find anything.

Ad-aware

Spybot S&D

may I ask what operating system you are using?
also it seems to me you may have delve into the registry not just your Startup Folder?

Edit:I can see from your "List" you could remove(not load at startup) at least 10 items from it.

I've tried spybot, and it only seems to help when I run it each time I startup my pc. I tried to try ad-aware but seemed to have gotten confused somewhere along the line.

I'm thinking I have some spyware or a trojan in my system. Is there a way to eliminate things from the startup list? Most of these unknown things are from my Registry.

The OS is Win`98

Kids hope this helps...

click>start>run>type in msconfig once that loads up(in ur face)tab to the startup tab,far right upper corner.
once there IMO you could uncheck these items I believe useless.

ATI Scheduler<-not understanding why ATI needs a scheduler.
EPSON Status Monitor<-user preferance
WinZip Quick Pick<-uncheck
run<-unknown/why or what is running?
run<-unknown/why or what is running?
Windows Update<-uncheck
svc<-unknown to me.what is this?
Msoffice<-uncheck
AddClass<-uncheck.why is this here?
ScanRegistry
TaskMonitor<-uncheck
System Tray
LoadPowerProfile
TridTray<-unknown to me
Atikey<-unknown to me
AtiCwd32<-unknown to me
w32sup<-unknown?what is this?
System Service<-unknown.why is this running/loading?
Msoffice<-uncheck
Online Service<-uncheck
Video driver<-not sure
Windows Update<-uncheck
Inertnet Explorer Updater<-uncheck
LoadPoerProfile
Scheduling Agent<-uncheck
Desktop<-this eludes me

hopefully alot of this is Not where I suggested you to look.
I have learned from trail and error(mostly error)to do only one thing at a time then reboot,do what you might normally do to see the effects.
that way you can undo what may have undesirable results.

not even a firewall ?
also on that operating system you really need to "plug" M$ bug via network neighborhood icon on desktop.
gota add NetBEUI proticol to uninstall it from being over top of tcp/ip proticol which in fact needs nothing in itself to be "bound" to to operate properly.
this blocks the port 139,also it may block port 137&138,but I use an older version of ZoneAlarm as my software firewall.
I also use the freeware version AVG 6
anti-virus program.

Edit:forgot to say(type)ur welcome.
also as a note you may wish to visit my web site.
I have alot of good info(link buttons)for our operating system & other flavors of winDOwS.
the instructions on the M$ bug are at GRC ShieldsUp site click on the link"ShieldsUp" once page loads up to locate information(s).

Hi Partsman2, you also have viruses.

From here : http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup...tartup_all.php

Quote:

System Service

X System Service MSREXE.EXE Added as a result of the {AML} VIRUS!
X System-Service EXPLORER.SCR Added as a result of the {BENJAMIN} VIRUS! KaZaA file-sharing users beware!
svc should be a page hijacker

X Svc svc.exe Hijacker, {Clientman} parasite variant, redirecting to madfinder.com

You can scan your PC online, I have a link in Europe but you maybe know a link in USA

Can you download HijackThis, run it, scan your PC and paste here the results of the scan ?

http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.zip

you need MSVBM60.dll (1.35 MB, Visual Basic 6.0 virtual machine, to place here : windows\system)
