I have a GeForce FX 5200 that has s-video. It came with an adapter than plugs into the s-video slot and converts it to what appears like RCA video plug. I plugged it into my Sony TV and pressed Input Select to change from cable input to RCA input. Except there was nothing appearing. Do I need to enable S-Video output on the 5200?

Give it a shot.

Also, if you are using dvd player software... you will have to tell it to output to the video-out on the video card rather than the monitor.

i have the geforce 4 mx 440 with tv out, and had to detect the tv as another monitor , then extend the desktop (or clone if you want the same picture on both) then if you want video to play, you have to set it as "primary"

all able to be done under my mx440 options under display

i suggest extend desktop, then set it as full screen device (meaning if you start a video on your monitor, the tv will automatically set it at full screen... you can then minimize it on your monitor and continue to browse the web)

Yes, if you enable S-Video output you should be able to tune the TV to the signal, just like another channel!

Incase none of that worked... ATI has a setup where you can activate the S-Video port under the advanced options of the display control pannel. Right click desktop... goto the settings tab and click advanced. Most laptops will turn the S-Video port off if it dosnt detect a cable on boot... save a little power I guess so you have to turn it on my guess ATI set uses power button options and you see a TV and you just "activate" it or power it on... I would assume the Nvidia would be pretty close to this...

I'm not sure how to activate, I'll try looking through the BIOS or NPanel thingy.

I think right click your screen, choose properties, then settings tab.then the advanced button, then on my 5600 choose the device selection tab.
