cd drives not reading audio CDs
both my CD drives, a BCD E520C and a LG GCC-4320B writer refuse to read the tracks on audio CDs, when I open the CD it gives the correct number of tracks but lists each file as being 44bytes in size. When I try to play an audio CD in winamp it again lists the correct number of tracks but lists the track lengths in the thousands of minutes and will not play them. WMP also lists the correct number of tracks but puts an orange exclamation mark next to each one and gives the error message: "Windows Media Player cannot find the specified file....". The only program that successfully plays CDs is CDex, I guess this is because it retrieves the data from the CDs in a different way.
I used to be able to read audio CDs on both drives. Data CDs read fine and I still get the CD music in computer games. I have tried normal audio CDs and CD-Rs and neither work. I am guessing it is a software problem because both my drives are affected. I am running XP-Pro on a K7S5A with a Duron 950 and 256mb ram and using the inbuilt sound card. Can anyone shed any light on my problem? I have Clone-CD and Nero installed, could these cause the problem?
