Geez, what can't you get with that price range!

Logitech Z680's rock, Klipesch makes some awesome speakers....

All depends on how much you are really willing to spend. If I had the money, I'd get the 680's because I love the sound they produce, not to mention the control center is really nice....

Depends whether you're going for a 5.1 system or standard 2.1. Generally, Logitech and Klipsch are recognized as the leaders in computer speakers. If you're going to look at Klipsch, you want to enquire about the ProMedia line.

Don't forget about Altec Lansing. They make some pretty impressive systems for the same pricing structure as Logitech and Klipsh. They are a bit behind on the digital front however, most of their systems are 4.1. But unless you're watching movies on your PC, and even then (IMO) center channel is just an extra box to plug in. Correct stereo imaging doesn't require a center channel.

Klipsch 5.1 Promedia Ultra $399

They blow anything away, outside of a stand alone component stereo system (w/Klipsch speakers). Best of the best with $100 to spare.

What's the sub tuned to, OuT? It says "lower" but doesn't give a number.

Dual sidways firing 8" subs....dang! Makes the little pumper in my ATP3's look like a chump ( they do sound pretty darn good for a 2.1 system though.

Speaking of speakers though ( and not to intentionally threadcrap because I think this is related to the subject )....

Where do you put the rear speakers in a computer desk style arrangement? I mean, I'd have to have some kind of stands behind me, or some kind of rods shooting off of my desk to hand them from like you see in Best buy in order to take advantage of the sound. I bought my wife some 4.1's and she puts the fronts next to the monitor, and the surrounds on top of the hutch part of the desk. I don't think Dr. Dolby intended that arrangement in his grand scheme.

You're on the right track, Mr. One More Post Till Ultimate Member.

I have mine on a desk behind me at about head level. All putting them all in front of you will do is make it louder. Of course if you just listen to music on them, it won't really make a difference where you put them, so long as there aren't three on one side...

RedFury: Some companies make speaker stands specifically for their rear sats, others include them. But if you can't find a specific one, you can make your own out of wood if you have the know-how, or just buy some generic adjustable ones that fit any bookshelf speaker.
