I have an MSI KT4 Ultra mobo with Promise on board serial raid controller. This is the second controller to crap out and they have taken out 3 Raptor drives. I gave up fairly early on in trying to diagnose these problems my self. I ended up taking the whole computer the the store that I bought the parts from. This store is a very reputable computer repair and sales facility. This last time I took it in, they recommended a controller card. They claim to have had lots of problems with Promise serial ATA RAID controllers. Not just specifically with MSI boards but all boards. Setting up the RAID and installing windows is not a problem. After 4-5 days of running 24/7 one of the HDDs will not be recognized and that is the end of things. So far its been either a controller or hard drive that goes away. Any other people experiancing this problem? I have gotten so I load Win XP, drivers as necessary and UD. I let UD run until it craps out again. The computer store has my computer now and I told them to fix it and run it for at least a week this time. We shall see what happens. I have been running the Raptors in a Stripe raid. Its not a power supply problem. It has a new Enermax 450 watt in it and the problem continues.
