comments on this PC please

Hi all
Sorry to sound a bit behind the times, but at the moment I have a Pentium 166, 64Mb ram 3.1gig h/drive, on board sound and graphics,
Now I want another more modern machine the one I am tempted buy (because of the special price) is a Dell Dimension 4600
It has a Pentium 4 CPU @ 2.66Ghz/512k (533FSB) Integrated audio and NIC
512Mb DDR333 Dual channel Memory.
3.5 floppy drive
120Gb (7200rpm) 8MB cache IDE H.drive X 2 (total 240Gb)
48xCDRW
4X DVDRW
NVidia Geoforce FX5200 128Mb graphics card
Altec Lansing speakers
Broadband modem
V92 Data,Fax,voice internal modem
.................................................
now I know this sounds like an add for Dell, but I visited thier website and altered the configuration on the build and buy page and I can get this for a third of what they are asking, but never mind the price, what I need to know is, are this machines specs sort of up-to-darte so to speak. To put it bluntly is it any good or junk.
please remember, when I bought it I thought my P166 *was the business* :-))
cheers
Rog

That will be an incredible upgrade from what you're used to...only thing I can see is if you're going to get into high-end gaming, the fx5200 would probably not be ideal. I haven't run that particular card myself, but I've heard gamers say it's not all it's cracked up to be. Maybe someone else here can comment on that. Otherwise, looks like an awesome system. Have fun-go fast!

Looks nice. The only thing I would say would be to consider an FX5600 or something. The 5200s didn't come out too well in many comparisons. IDK but I've heard its a similar thing to the GF MX cards????

Nah, if you're up for gaming grab a Geforce 4 Ti4200 it's under a $100 now.

You'll notice a significant increase in computing power with the machine your buying compared to your old one .

how about building one? I don't know if u know how to build one, but IMO, building one is always a better choice just because u can choose whatever components that is more suitable for u, and that is just my opinion
