Flashed BIOS, puter died

Hi,

I just tried Flash Menu with my ABIT AT7 motherboard that I bought about 15months ago. In case you don't know, Flash Menu is an app that lets you update your bios in windows.

Everything seemed to go fine in Windows XP then it said I should restart. I restarted, but didn't get any bios screen - nothing! I removed all devices and pci cards just in case something was causing a problem (except for my cd and dvd drives, and video card, of course) and still got nothing. I'm not sure what to do now. Was I supposed to clear the cmos manually? I would have thought Flash Menu would have made mention of that...

I'm really worried because I had a raid0 set up (this is what I was booting from) and don't want to lose that data. Am I right in saying that I can't run that raid off of anything but the motherboard that I created it on? Will manually clearing the cmos also clear my raid controller settings?

Thanks a lot for your help.

-Chris

well since I've never tried this flash from windows thing i'm not sure what to say, but i know your bios really wasn't meant to be flashed in this way. Normally when you flash your bios there should be no need to clear cmos as your basically installing a new version. As for taking out all the cards there would be no reason to do that but if you do then why not strip the board to everything but cpu/video and ram the booting essentials.

its gets a no post with no beeps?? or what? you just say nothing no power on anything?? explain

That's exactly what I did - tore everything off but the essentials. I didn't want to clear the cmos because I was afraid it would clear my highpoint settings too. I learned that it would not, and when I cleared the cmos the computer started up fine, raid settings intact.
