Systems Win XP in trouble..

hi, I have dual booting OS, which is windows 2000 advanced server and windows XP professional. the problem is after I have changed a new hard disk and new cd rom drive, lately, my pc keeps on restarting by itself due to error.

and it seems that all the errors have been placed inside my WINDOWS, with the folder called Minidump. anyone of you knows what it is?

this is also one of the errors;

F:\DOCUME~1\LOCAL~1\Temp\WERS.tmp.dir00\sysdata.xm l

hmm...please help me to solve this problem. thank you very much.

are you saying that you put a hard drive with both operating systems on a different computer?
or did you add an additional hard drive?
what does the sysdata.xml file say?
check your event viewer, and see what errors are listed there as well - control panel, admin tools, event viewer

thanks for the reply. actually it's two OS in one hard drive.

I cant seem to find what the sysdata.xml file says. as for the event viewer, i found out that there are a few errors.
the errors are :

1) ccEvtMgr which is described as failed to load configuration settings.

2) Application error: Faulting application ccapp.exe, version 2.0.0.6.35, faulting module unknown...

3) acpi error : AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (Oxcfc), which lies in the Oxcf8-Oxcff protected address range. this could lead to system instability.

well, i guess the third error seems more reasonable for my pc. what do you think?

if you have any idea, please guide me to solve this problem. I really hope to solve this problem because it bothers me very much . by the way, the problematic pc is not connected to Internet.
thank you..

Welcome to TechIMO!!

I googled your error message by pasting it in the search bar and all I got was gibberish.

Then I realized that those "capital" O's were zeroes.

Hope this site helps.

it seems like thats a part of NAV/firewall - i had issues like the ones you are having with the zone alarm firewall, instability, crashing, ect, just for having the program installed - maybe you are experiencing something similar? i solved my problem by not using zone alarm, but i dont think norton is so touchy

edit - norton is a different program then zone alarm, but i thought it could have been the same problem

Misc

hi, thanks a lot for the replies.

jacob, I have seen the site you gave me. Hmm.. i was wondering how all of you manage to find those sites? Just type in search engine?
anyway, can you please teach me how to turn off the zone alarm? thanks...

bill, sorry for the O's.. as for the site that you gave, it helps. but, how do you think i should solve my problem? Do I have to go to the BIOS and do something about it?

I have gone to ask some pc technician about my problem, but they told me that it might be because of battery spoilt or hard drive or power supply or windows problem. so, anyone of you have any idea?

please guide me... thanks a lot.

The CMOS battery might be the problem but I doubt it.

Easy to replace and cheap.

Don't think it's the PSU either.

Maybe if you change your BIOS to load defaults?

Might want to get more feedback on that.

What programs are loading a startup BTW?

I think you may need to expound on this a little bit more....what EXACTLY did you replace and how did you go about it? Did you use ghost to copy stuff to a new hard drive? Or did you just put a new hard drive in for more storage or what??

I know that sometimes trying to use ghost on server os'es doesnt work too spiffy...thats how I blew up my win2k server install a while back when I was playing with servers.
