Wireless router recommendations

I'm looking for a wireless router and I'd like recommendations on make/model. I think I want the "g" standard for range and performance.
In my setup the router will be upstairs and some of the systems will be downstairs. Actual distance in a straight diagonal line will be less than 45'.
How is performance affected in upstairs/downstairs situations and what could/should I do to maximize?

Thank you

I have been looking into getting a wireless router for about a month and have done more than my share looking around and asking questions. I finally found one that I'm going to buy, Linksys WRT54G. this seems to be the best wireless router for the price. right now you can get it off of newegg for like $90 - 10 dollar manufacturer rebate. I would reccomend this router, as i am getting it, linksys has good quality stuff, and also it has been the best router i have found for g standard.

Right now my choices look like they will be between the Linksys WRT54G and the Buffalo AirStation WBR-G54.
A receint article in PC Mag rated the Buffalo as slightly better with the Linksys as a close second.

Anyone have any opinions on how well one of these wireless routers will work between floors?
