DRE question

I recently purchased FFX-2 and it kept saying "Disc Read Error." I put in Xenosaga (and a few other games), and they played just fine. We called the place we got FFX-2 from and they told us to bring it back and they'd give us another one. So, we did that, popped the new one in and got the same error. Anyone know what's going on? I'd really appreciate your help! Thank you.

is it a dvd game or cd media game? I gather this is for a PS2.. but that system has 2 cd formats.. find out which ffx2 is.. then test another game at your place that uses the same cd media type.. it that one doesn't play.. then it is your ps2.. likely ffx2 is a dvd disk.. and the others you have are cd media.. it could be that your laser has stopped reading one disk type..
