Problems with my PC game Pad?

I just bought a PC game pad (Saitek P220 Digital Pad) and installed the pad fine on my PC (Windows 2000 Professional).
The pad is also tested fine under " Control Panel/Game Control Properties."

However, when I run the "Need For SPeed Hot Pursuit 2" game,
all the buttons on the game pad has no effect. I still have to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to run the game.

Could anyone tell me how to fix the problem with game pad?

Thank you!

Jim

If I'm not mistaken, you'll have to go into "options" in the main menu of Need4Speed to set the input parameters...

The problem is that when I first start Need For Speed, it prompts the following error message:

"Your controller (p220) is not specifically recognized. You may want to check default settings in Controller Options."

However, when I test the game pad in Game Controller Options, it seems that the game pad is working ok.

Could anyone help me here?

Thanks!!!

You should've received a CD with your pad, install the software then try to run it again...

Also try unplugging and re-plugging the pad whilst in the game control options.

Actually, the P220 doesn't have an install CD- it works with existing windows drivers. What version of windows are you running? I have yet to see XP have a problem using this pad...
Here's a link that may help...

My PC is running windows 2000 professional.

The pad seems fine in the " Control Pabel/ Game COntroller Options."

However, NFS just does not recognize the pad.

I think that I am giving up.
I will return this pad to Fry's and get a new one.
