Windows 98SE and 95 on two different drives....

I built a nice little rig for a buddy and he's happy but wants some of his old stuff too. I gave him a 30gb drive for the new rig but he has an old 6gb drive from his old rig he wants to use as well.

The old one runs Win95 and he's got 98SE on the new one. Without me guessing, what's the easiest/simplest way for him to use both drives. (He's a few states away so I'm giving him instructions on mounting the 2nd HD and organizing the IDE cables, etc.). He's a pretty smart guy so I trust him installing the hardware, just want to get him running smoothly on 2 drives with 2 different o/s's & I'm NOT a fan of multiple HD's. I like the KISS principle...(keep it simple stupid)! TIA!!!

I dont think there is a real simple way to do that..unless possibly you get a "boot manager" like "partition commander" or one of the others.

With Win2k or XP its easier but with 98se, 95, winMe etc its not as easy.

Maybe someone else can chime in with more specifics...

This isn't very elegant but you can mount both drives on separate IDE channels, both as master and unplug the power to the one you don't want to use.

If your BIOS supports it, you could just choose which drive to boot from. Takes more time than a boot manager, but if you don't need to switch very often . . .

You guys are supposed to say "it's easy......just do this...xxxx" LOL!!

Oh well. So, does "boot commander" do what it implies?? Can he run both at the same time or at least *use* both at the same time??

Also, there's another program that I can't think of to save my life right now. It's like Norton Ghost but called something else. It allows you to literally split your screen and drag & drop what you want from one to the other. Grrrrrrr.....getting old sucks!!
