Need ram advice.

I've got a Barton 2500 coming, but all I have now is pc2700. That's fine for stock speeds, but I'm no sissy, I wanna do some more overclocking

I have a chance to get two 256mb sticks of this crucial for $85

The CL is 3, though. Is that a bad thing? I thought the lower the better. Also, it's only 3200, I was wondering if 3500 would better suit my needs.

Thanks!

(and if you know of any killer deals on good brand ram, lemme know. I can get Kingston HX for 110)

What motherboard to you have? You are correct, the lower the CAS Latency, the better.

JME, is the ram certified by ASUS? I have lots of problem running DDR400 / PC3200 RAM on my A7N8X Deluxe untill I fitted a single 512Mb RAM chip on my Mobo.

The certified list is on the product spec pages on the asus website.

What Omar said, when you run two sticks of memory in a dual DDR board, make sure they're matched sticks or you'll probably run into problems. You can run one stick, but won't get the slight dual DDR performance kick.

I would try for something lower than cl3, you will notice the difference.

i would say go with 2 512 sticks instead. on my old system 512 just wasn't enough with xp.
