Ebay what is

What is the best way to get started? I have never sold anything across the internet before but the closests are full and the place is cluttered and I thought I would try to sel some of it instead of giving it away as I am currently unemployed and need some holiday cash.

I am an honest person and was wondering what the easiest way is to get a good reputation for myself. Thanks as always for any responses or help

Well, you could give it all to me, and I'll give you a few pennies in exchange.

OR.. if you really wanna go the eBay route.. they have an excellent Getting Started tutorial.

The easiest way to get a good reputation, is to give a lot of info about the stuff you are selling. Tell the truth! Give pictures! Ship ontime! Don't cheat people!

Another way to get good feedback is to actually start 'buying' stuff. If you build a reputation as a good buyer, people won't feel as hesitant to buy FROM you.

glad to help.

Since you are a new member, buy a few things (unless you have enough ) and get a few feedbacks under your belt. Or, put stuff up, and be quick in answering emails, monitor your auctions like a hawk, etc. Be very religious about getting stuff mailed, and leaving feedback for people. For a while (depending on how much you will want to work) you should build up a rating.

Also, create A DIFFERENT BANK ACCOUNT IF YOU USE PAYPAL! Paypal has recently been using underhanded tactics, and you should never give them access to your primary checking account! This is true for ebay also (remember, they are owned by AOL) This a sellers best weapon against ebay. Lately, they have taken on a seamy side, and can be pretty rude sometimes. Do not sacrfice a hot meal from your primary account, because ebay got petty with it.

Too many crooks at eBay for me these days..both running the auction, and many sellers.

I won a hard drive a couple of weeks ago, and some dude tried to out bid me in the last 10 seconds...he missed by $1.75.

I can't get a peep out of the seller..nothing, nada. It has dawned on me that the bidder that tried to outbid me wrote the seller and offered a higher price that what I won the auction at.

Such as this happens at eBay..and has ever since the beginning. I have even had sellers write me when I was second best bidder and offer the item or one like it for a few bucks more..against eBays rules, but it happens.

It has gotten to the point where people trying to save a buck buying used stuff will pay more in the long run than a new item would have cost anyway.

I bought an "IDE" zip drive a few months back..it turned out to be a SCSI drive (50 pin connector). I wrote the seller to inform him, and I never heard a peep back. This is the general caliber of sellers today at eBay.

You say "leave a negative"...yeah, and you get a blistering lie back...no thanks.

I'd say start buy posting a f/s f/t thread on here and see if any of us want some of your items. doesn't cost you anything unlike ebay and you get more repectable traders {most the time} and you might get to trade out your items for things you'd like/need

other than that best way to start is jump right in. set a plan if you plan to take credit cards then you'll need to use pay-pal {most the time} get your account set-up and verified as well ass addy verified. start with low dollar items to build better feedback as suggested buy a few items as well.

make sure your specific on your details ie what your warranty will be as well as shipping cost stuff like that.

you might have better results with buying/selling if you e-mail the seller before you bid...and require that people with less than 10 positive feedback ratings e-mail you with a daytime phone number. there is a service offered by eBay for buyers...called "buyers insurance" or something like that. basically it's a fraud-protection feature, and gives you more legal rights. any complaints about a user, send a message to eBay. you'll see all that info when you log on for the first time.
read the feedback from the people you're buying from, and determine from that if you'd like to proceed. right now I'm a buyer only...and I like the eBay "Stores" that users set up. they're more prone to be upfront and honest, as they stand to lose a lot of money if they cheat you.

also, welome to eBay!
