TCP/IP printer port WIN98 SE

I am unable to add a printer via this option. Does anyone know how I can get the option to add a TCP/IP printer? It's an HP color laserjet 4500 with a jetdirect card. I need to get this setup in the next few minutes so if anyone has an idea I would appriciate it. all that I have in the other ports options is USB and of all things, LPT1, No TCP/IP.

Thanks

Yes, but that won't give me the option to add it by it's IP address. Only a shared printer on the network. Net Use doesn't seem to work for me either. I am running ouot of options and I can't find the answer in MS KB.

I think with Win98 you will need to run the install on the JetDirect CD.

you started a new post.

There should be a disk that came with the jetdirect card.
HP should have a download.

With Windows 98 you have to load the JetDirect software on the computer and set it up through that. They used to have it up on the HP site but took it off. Win2K and XP have the standard TCP/IP printing available but not Windows 98.

Yep. I accidentally started a new post.. Oops.
Usually with 98 I have had the ability to choose a standard TCP/IP port, or hp jetdirect TCP/IP port. Not so on this PC. I have been unsucessful in finding the driver on HP's site. Only the Jetdirect webadmin software.

Downloaded the HP install network printer wizard and completed the task. I should slap myself.... Thanks everyone for the quick replies.

There's also the possibility (for people reading this thread in history) for network printers that don't have this software to share the printer from an NT-based box, then connect to the share on that computer instead of directly to the printer. I've done it several times in the past and it works well.
