Persistent "SirSearch" webpage.

Whenever I hit a missing page, or site that has no return page, I am directed to this strange Search Page called "SirSearch". I do not like this and would like to change it. I've done a hunt through the registry for this persistent url, but cannot find it. Anyone familiar with this? I've heard it mentioned with "Keen Value" but Keen is not resident on my machine.

Nope. Strangest thing this......
I run Adaware regularly and it caught a lot of stuff last time (don't ya just love teenagers on your computer!) and when I got rid of everythign this was left.

There is a registry key tht will let you set a default search page, but I either can't find it, or can't CHANGE it. This is not a bad problem, just one that seems to hang on.

Make sure you have the latest update for Ad-Aware.

Mine got rid of "sirsearch".

John, thanks for that thought, but Adaware 6.0 didn't get rid of it for me.

Here's what I found. Within the registry I did NOT find any references to SirSearch, but when going BAck from the SirSearch Page, I noticed that it was actually a redirect. So I went looking for the redirect page, Euniverse. What I found after much effort was several references to BHO.eunivBho in a couple of different formats. I checked the hard drive again and discovered (finally) a subdirectory of a DataMiner folder C:\program Files\IncredFind\BHO.

I renamed the IncredFind folder and NOW I no longer get the Sir Search site.

Hi,

ive found alot of threds like this but i'm having trouble with a searchbar which i believe is connected to this sirsearch page. Any one know how i can get rid of it, please?

i tried the add/remove programs in control panel but it sends me to a sirsearch webpage and asks why i'm wanting to delete the toolbar. It asks you to select an answer then click an uninstall button. Following this you get a 'now uninstalled' type message, but it isnt.

This sounds like what my cousin had problems with. Look at http://www.symantec.com for something called Trojan.Qhosts

It might have something to do with it.

Hope you get it out.

rivalskys did you try adaware and spybot yet
