Kids Laptop Screen Faded

I've had a sager np5670 laptop with an ATI Redeon 9000 for about 3 months. Last time I used it was last night and it worked fine. This afternoon I get to school and turn it on and you can BARELY read the screen as it boots up or is on the desktop. (when I say barely I mean you have to shine a bright light into it to see it). a few ppl around me and I figured it just was cold (it was in my car for the day but it was only 60-65 deg.) so i let it sit for awhile left on. Nothing different happened. I brought it back to my house and hooked the ext. monitor to a desktop monitor and it works fine. I've adjusted the video settings, reinstalled drivers, even did a system restore but nothing better came out of it. Contrast keys have no affect and everyhting else works fine but the LCD

Like I said, I used it last ngiht, left it inside over night, put it in my car for the day while I was at work and there it goes not working. Not dropped or left anything on top of it....any ideas?

I've put a callback request in for tomorrow but I figured I'd see what everyone thoguth about it. THANKS!!!

Hi jokerswild,
That sounds like your backlight for the laptop screen is dead. The part is like the backlight inverter or somthing like that..
If all you see is a faded image of a screen, and nothing else, it sounds like it is. Try taking it in for service....

imac9556 is most likely right. Either the backlight or the inverter which powers it has gone bad (I'd put my money on the backlight, personally).

Since you've had it for only 3 months or so, I would contact the manufacturer about getting it fixed under warranty, they should replace the backlight if it has died that quickly
