computer randomly resetting

Hey guys, my computer has been making this weird noise recently like the fan is sorta struggling.
And recently my computer has been randomly resetting when I have too many internet explorer sites open.
Any idea if this could have to do with overheating?

Is it something in my BIOS? I've checked for viruses and so far nothing...
Hmm... mysteries of computers :-)
Best of luck

I would say that you are either over-heating or you have ram troubles.

What computer do you have?
What version of windows?

To check the temp you can try Motherboard Monitor 5. It will show you your temps.

To check your RAM use Memtest86.

Also if you want to try and get a better idea of the error (XP), Right click my computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Settings under Startup and Recovery -> Uncheck Automaticly restart

Is your fan clooged. The key might be "fan is struggling!"

I think you need a stronger PSU. Also, your computer may be overheating. Try more vetalation and a bigger PSU

jkrohn, tnx much for the link to MBM. I struggled for quite a while earlier this year with a over-heating problem and sure wish I'd known about that then!

I'd say your motherboard is completely screwed. I've gone through 2 motherboards through overheating and they both ended up like that.

Open up your case and look at the capacitors. Look to see if any of them bulge out. If they bulge out or leak, your motherboard is totally screwed and you need a new one.

You should also be able to check your fan speed through bios. if you see wild fluctuations it may be that your fan is going south.
