Nero audio burning experts, help

Long story short: Got some mp3's want to burn onto a CD, converted them to wav files for play on home stereo, burn with nero 6.0.0.23 and they come out as ***.cda files @ 44bytes each,(*** being the name of the song)when burnt. Funny thing is the titles of the mp3's all have ***-pnd.mp3 endings so I don't know if this is anything or not(edit: removed the -pnd and still get the same) I tell Nero to make a new CD, Audio CD, go to the wav files, burn the suckers and now have two coasters. I've burnt a lot of CD's, but can't seem to do it right now. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I know the cda is a data txt file for the cd's, but why will they not burn the music?
I even took the mp3's and did the drag-n-drop into nero and I still get cda's. I also uninstalled nero and reinstalled with the same luck. 4 coasters and counting ): thanks for reading

The .cda is the standard format for a wav file to be in a cd.
You're obviously browsing it with computer, start up cd player, and it should read the cd fine.

If you're trying to play it with standalone cd player, and it fails, it may be that your player doesn't recognize the cd. Perhaps because of the media, because of the burn speed, or just because it's too old to know what cd-r is.

The files show as .cda files @ 44bytes on the CD. The system is a 1.5gig intel, with a 24xCDRW. I have used MS Media player and winamp to try and play the cda's with no luck. The system has played and burnt mp3's,wma's wav's before, so why not now?

Have you been finalizing the session when you burn? most of the time you have to close the cd off from adding more data. otherwise Nero is very user friendly. just start up the wizard and create a new audio cd. nero will convert to the correct format.

Hi-Val by chance

Is this a Hi-Val? I had one and ran fine with 5.5.something or other for about 3 months then just started making coasters. Installed a Lite-On with same software and all was good. Got around to fooling with the old one the other day and loaded the Nero version that came with it and all was fine. BTHOM.
