Kids radeon 9000/9200 impressions

hey,

im upgrading a friends gateway for her (memory, video, sound) and since the computer will be for her son (13)he will be playing games, burn cd's blah blah.

since its only a 133 fsb (p3 866) im not gonna have her shell out dough(on a budget) for a nice ti-4200 but been doing some research instead. my two(3) choices are a ATI Radeon 9000 pro 128 MB, or geforce mx 440 64mb.

only radeon 9000 i see at new egg is from sapphire(who?) and isnt even in stock(84 bucks). for only a few more bucks i can get a 9200 there but the mx440 i put in my gf's pc runs new games pretty decent i have to say and i always use nvidia cards for my own machines. havent decided if i will be installing xp or 2k but i dont think either card is direct x 9 compliant correct?..........any comments appreciated.

9000 & 9200 are about the same GPU's , performance-wise
The 9000 is AGP 4X & 9200 is AGP 8X compliant.
Sapphire IS the company that FABs most of ATI's retail cards....

9000 and 9200 chips are absolutely identical in performance, given otherwise identical cards - however most 9200 cards offered aren't the best speed "pro" variant.
