Installing a Large Size 160GB Hard Drive,.. too big?

I am looking to purchase the following drive:
(drive to be stored off site as a backup drive)

WESTERN DIGITAL
160GB Caviar Special Edition Internal EIDE Ultra ATA/100 7200RPM Hard Drive with 8MB Cache

Will I have a problem installing this drive? I have heard there may be issues once a drive exceeds a 137 GB limit. Is this true?

I don't think this will matter but I am planning on connecting it thru an external 3.5" USB 2.0 hard drive case.

Thanks so much in advance for any help.

-Chris

Well, normally I would say dont sweat it cuz the 160 and above drives almost all come with ata133 controller cards. But since you are going to use usb...Im not sure, lol.

Its the ATA 100 standard that has the limitation.

Off topic,

That is a lot of freaking drives and peripherals(sp) for a 250watts power supply. You might want to get a more juicy power supply before that 250watts blow up.

Yea but its a Dell so it might not just be as easy as installing any old power supply in it.

I have done this on a Dell 4500 so you should have no issues with a 8200. Mine's a year old.

The BIOS will recognize it correctly but for windows to see more than 137GB, you should use XP or 2000.

As for the PS, you are OK I think. I have almost the same kind of stuff on an old Sony Vaio with a 200 Watt supply.

Just make sure the PC is not kept in a closed space.
