I would suggest Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D. That is what i have been using, but its kind of old, some of their newer ones are even nicer.

Why would you want to use a joystick with a first person shooter?

ever try flying the planes in battlefield with a joystick? its awesome, way better than using the keyboard

bf1942 isnt really a total fsp, if you are flying a plane or a helocopter, having the joystick is really great when compared to the keyboard.

Oh so I can play with keyboard and mouse, then when i get in a plane i can pick up my joystick and fly?

yeah, in options there is settings for land, air, infantry. I have flying all up to my joystick, and everything else is keyboard.

My Microsoft Force Feedback 2 is a nice joystick for the game. Pretty precise and I like the force feedback. Really any half decent joystick will do for BF1942.
