Talk Installing Windows 98

I have a laptop that I want to install Win 98, but Win 98 won't let me do that over Win 95. Any suggestions? Do I need Win 98 upgrade rather than Win 98?

I'd advise that you format the drive and do a clean install, not install over 95.

If your BIOS supports it, you should be able to boot from the CD and do what you need to do from it.

Here's what I'd do . . .

- FORMAT drive
- MKDIR C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS
- COPY *.CAB from \WIN98 on CD to C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS
- Start SETUP from C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS

These are just general instructions, if you wanna do it that way, I can give you a step-by-step

John Flowers, you have the answer you are looking for but I'm still going to move it to the correct forum.
