Easy Questions..that i cant answer!

I would've checked google, but i cant figure how to word the subjects!

Can you guys help with these few good questions...?

1-When my puter boots, I go through a cycle where the screen shows:
"Verifying DMI Pool...Boot from CD.."
Does anyone know how to either (a) diable this from showing or (b) cover it with a wallpaper?

2-Does anyone have any idea as to why when either switching between resolutions or coming back from the screensaver my Monitor would making a "click"-ing sound then go black on screen and get back to normal? In other words basically restarting itself?

3-I was told that I should've created when I installed Xp Pro, a copy of the \i386 directory on my C: drive before i installed (in order to allow windows to fix itself if the need arose. Unfortunately, I couldnt figure out the right DOS commands (although, I did have xxcopy16), nor could i find the \i386 directory anyway.
Does anyone know what steps is necessary to direct Xp to look for whatever files it may need in the \i386 directory i want to put on the hdd instead of the XpPro CD?

4-I've changed under Xp's Control Panel the sound level of my internal Modem, however it is excruciatingly loud still, with basically no change in sound level. Any ideas on how to lower the volume?

Shown,

For #1 go to your BIOS and change-sounds like you are setup to boot from your CD-ROM first

#2 I believe is normal nothing to worry about (I could be wrong)

#3 if I remember when XP can't find the I386 it will show a browse button which you can click and find the folder on your HD.

#4 go to control panel -phones amd modems-modems-properties-advanced- and put in one of the following values: (ex. ATM0 will turn speaker off)

ATMn
Control Speaker On/Off
Command Options:
M0
Speaker is always off
M1
Speaker goes off while receiver a carrier (default)
M2
Speaker is always on
M3
Speaker off while dialing or receiving carrier, but on during answering

maface,

Thanks for the modem string, but it didnt work..so then i guessed that your setting was under xp, so I checked out AoL9's settings and I tried their faq, which worked! Here's the details, and Thanks!

Quote:
From AOL9:
You can adjust the screeching sound that your modem makes when it connects.
To change your modem sounds:

1-On the Sign On screen, click Sign On Options.
2-In the America Online Setup window, click Expert Setup.
3-In the AOL Expert Setup window, highlight the location that uses dial-up modem and click Edit.
4-In the Edit Location window, click Edit Devices, and click Next.
5-In the Edit Devices window, select your modem and click Next.
6-In the Edit Device window, choose the volume you want for your modem from the Speaker Volume field and click Next.
7-In the Summary window, click Sign On to AOL Now to sign on immediately, or click Make More Changes to make additional changes.

Some monitors have a mechanical relay for switching circuit bits and pieces in and out for different scan rates and their effect can be a bit alarming but is quite normal.

You can copy the i386 folder using windows explorer, but just in case there are hidden files, check that these are selected in folder options etc... See where i386 is by opening the CD or search facility.

the clicking sound from ur moniter is made by the transistor (i think) and its normal for most moniters.

EDIT: its not a transistor, its a realy switch. sorry my bad.
